The highest compliment I can give this book is that I loved the fact that Lila is a baker, and an all around incredible cook. A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea and Tomorrow has a lovely place for romance and… damn if it wasn’t perfectly paced. I read it as an eBook, which doesn’t help the story to stick in my head though (several months later anyway…).

Her fiery passion might be also the reason of 2 of the trifecta—her boyfriend Andres dumping her and her fallout with her best friend Stefanie Here are some lines from her abuelita that somewhat describe Lila, “ But you add yourself like too much sugar sometimes.

I thought this was very well written and I especially appreciated the way that the author depicted grief and depression, and I also thought that the romance at the center of this felt well flushed out and that the characters had great chemistry. Waiting in this reception room with its potted plants and periwinkle wallpaper, I watch as family members are reunited by long-awaited visits, and once again separated by departures that come too soon.

Though the ingredients may vary from family to family, the goal is always the same: suffer heartbreak and your family will fix you. I’m not sure why I didn’t read A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow first, as I already owned it, but nevertheless—I was looking for something that would get me in the springtime mood, and this little gem stuck out to me. After twenty-four hours in my room, I have no idea about the outside temperature, or the number of steps between the inn and Winchester city center. Traces of Mami’s lemon-vinegar tile cleaner and my gardenia-scented room spray cling to all the contents I’ll need tonight. The delicious Cuban pastries and mix and matches of Cuban and English food, the character’s love for baking will make your mouth water. My reading schedule has been positively dreadful recently (I haven't read in like over a month) and I have no desire to pick up a book. Deep down, this is a story about figuring out who you are, where you really belong, how you can change, grow and shape yourself differently as time moves on, just as well. Laura Taylor Namey is the New York Times bestselling author of A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, a Reese Witherspoon YA Book Club pick, as well as A British Girl’s Guide to Hurricanes and Heartbreak, When We Were Them, and The Library of Lost Things.
