Description

Through engaging with the rewilding of Cannwood, Goldsmith realises he can still experience joy and love. It is beautiful, moving, and shares the intense pain of losing a loved one and the healing power of nature. In the latest episode of my podcast, Rewilding the World, I speak to Andreia Pawel from ORKCA (Orange River-Karoo Conservation Area), in southern Namibia. Goldsmith’s unshaking honesty brings the reader along this journey of love, trauma, pain, grief and suffering, restoration and love again.

A much-used word, karma is loosely understood as a system of checks and balances in our lives, of good actions and bad deeds, of good thoughts and bad intentions.Death transcends our day-to-day myopia and reminds us with crushing immediacy that we are a part of something much bigger: nature, so all-encompassing that we often forget it’s there, or we treat its destruction as a trivial issue. In Love Is Not Enough, Mark’s first Audible Original, you’ll follow five real people over the course of six months as they navigate f--ked up romantic situations, ranging from dating app addiction to marital affairs to absurd fantasies. He speaks with members of various faiths and believers of mystical ideas, but ultimately it is nature, and the rewilding of the family farm, that brings him hope. And, as the son of the late billionaire Jimmy Goldsmith, a financier himself, he has the wherewithal to do something significant.

Ben was appointed a Director of the UK Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for five years, until 2022. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Goldsmith has written an extraordinary book, God is an Octopus , about his journey through grief and his exploration of the afterlife.

We dismiss pro-rewilding poll results over and over again, making the excuse that the majority of rewilding supporters live in cities. Main Hi Kahaani Hoon”, an Audible Original is a weekly storytelling show of 20 episode from Audible, written-created-performed by Major Akhill Pratap; an ex-Army Officer popularly known as The Soldier and The Storyteller. This deeply personal and supportive series offers listeners an honest and relatable insight into how some the UK's best-known celebrities have coped with mental health difficulties, ranging from OCD to insomnia, addiction to grief, and depression to anxiety.

This wasn’t a factor for me though, maybe as I didn’t realise who is was until halfway through the book , but I just saw him as a dad who has sadly lost his child. One of the most enthused sections sees Goldsmith visit David Waters, the man who reintroduced the Great Bustard bird to England. Benedict Macdonald, Winner of the Wainwright Prize for Global Conservation A heartbreaking yet ultimately inspiring memoir of the personal spiritual odyssey. Stunningly beautiful, immensely sad, immensely uplifting, this is a book of grief and joy and wonder and renewal. I think sadly we're conditioned to have neat and tidy gardens, but hopefully, this memoir will encourage people to leave a little space for the wildlife. We read about Ben's year of immersing himself within nature and his quest to find solace and meaning. As someone interested in questions of consciousness, metaphysics, and how to heal our ecosystems through science, policy and culture, I found Goldsmith’s ability to cover such a breadth of topics wonderfully refreshing. You weave together the journeys of grief, and self-discovery, and re-wilding in such a beautiful and inspiring way. I studied finance and my background is primarily in venture capital and private equity (with an investor relations focus), but I’m open to exploring any interesting positions. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.
